Remaco Merger Ltd's History

History of the former Remaco Merger Ltd

2012

The companies that formed the International Trust Group are being unified under the brand "Remaco" as of 15 December 2012. Advisory Services, Corporate Finance and Wealth Management will be offered with the well-known expertise under the new simplified market presence.

2007

On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, on 22 November International Trust Ltd holds a gala celebration at St. Martin's Church and the Markthalle building in Basel to present the new face of the International Trust Group.

2006

After around a year of renovation work at 95 and 103 Hirzbodenweg in Basel, the acquisition is followed by the physical amalgamation of the two companies at Hirzbodenweg.

2005

In September, Remaco Merger Ltd, whose activities are now primarily focused around its Basel headquarters and the domestic market, acquires the equally long-established Basler Internationale Treuhand AG (ITAG), thereby extending the scope of its services to include the two new areas of Advisory Services and Wealth Management.

2000

On 1 January , after a two-year stint as a Remaco partner, Pascal Böni takes over from Franz Janser as the majority shareholder in Remaco Merger Ltd, which at this time has offices in Basel, St. Gallen, Zurich, Frankfurt, Vienna and Mulhouse. In the following years, the company is to experience a refocusing of its international activities and an expansion in its range of services.

1998

After a close collaboration with a specialized boutique in Vienna, joint establishment of Remaco Merger GmbH, Vienna is founded.

1992

Remaco Merger GmbH in Frankfurt and Remaco Merger Sàrl in Mulhouse are established.

1991

In September, Bulletin No. 48 carries the following statement: "In collaboration with a privatization agency, Remaco Merger is now offering for the first time several shareholdings in medium-sized enterprises in the new German states. Remaco is aware of the difficulties involved, and is therefore keeping a watchful eye on the area via its East Berlin branch office and maintaining close cooperative links with the privatization agency."

1990

In January, Remaco is represented at three locations in Switzerland. Alongside its headquarters in Basel, Remaco Merger has a branch office in Zurich and another in St. Gallen.

1988

On 1 July, Remaco moves to its new and historically significant headquarters: 7 Centralbahnstrasse in Basel. The new headquarters, the former Grand Hôtel et Savoy Hôtel Univers, had also housed the world's oldest international financial institution, namely the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), from its establishment in 1930 until 1977. At this time, the services provided by Remaco Merger Ltd are described simply and concisely as "purchase and sale of company shareholdings".

1986

Remaco's sister company Remaco Invest Ltd is established at 5 Wallisellenstrasse in Zurich. As a member of the Swiss Association of Asset Managers (SAAM) and, at a later stage, a securities trading licence holder, it provides a professional and customer-focused complement to Remaco Ltd in the field of investment consultancy and portfolio management for institutional and private clients.

1978

Remaco Ltd starts operating as an economically and legally independent consultancy business at its new headquarters at 15 Holbeinstrasse in Basel. The search for takeover targets is systematized and the company's service portfolio broadened by expanding the scope of its searches to also include buyers and partners for entrepreneurs willing to sell their businesses. The marketplace used by the "joint stock company for management consultancy and mergers & acquisitions", as Remaco describes itself in an advertisement in 1985, is the Bulletin, which is still published three times a year today and was already providing information on concrete acquisitions, disposals and partners in coded form even in those early days. Today, the Merger Bulletin still serves as an effective instrument for initiating contacts between buyers and sellers of businesses under the expert advice and backing of Remaco.

1974

Economist Franz Janser takes over as CEO of Remaco Ltd and four years later executes a management buy-out after the original purpose of the business has been discharged.

1969

Remaco Ltd is founded by Hubert Looser as part of industrial firm Elco Looser Holding AG. The purpose of the business is to seek licences and shareholdings for the group's own companies.
